Re-reading my message, I realized that it sounds like I have a specific beef with the person whose name begins with S.
In case that person (or a friend of their's) happens to read this, I thought I should make it clear that this isn't the case. I don't even know them personally. I just thought that their messages may have been what set Siobhan off, as they tend to use lots and lots of dot dot dots...
I do, however, share Siobhan's general displeasure with people who overuse ellipses. Hence my offer to assist her in the upcoming slaughter.
but but but... I like ellipses... I've been using them for years... everyone on alt.gothic used to know it was really me by my over use of ellipses... *sniffle*
heh well I'll have to watch it then. I'm prone to going elipse happy at times. *must remember to use proper punctuation. must not use more then one elipse in a paragraph!*
My main problem with them is related to the fact that I tend to "hear" people's voices in my head when I am reading their words. When sentances end with a series of dots, the voice in my head kind of trails off and the thought is never completed.
Maybe it's neurotic, but "hearing" that constantly drives me absolutely bonkers.
There are a few other things I find a little annoying -- I can handle people who never use capitals or Type Only In Titles, people who abuse tab keys a la TSM, or even Cusraque's old stylized poetry. People who don't break up their paragraphs, or all caps are harder to read, but the ellipses habit is is the one thing that seriously bugs me.
