So you know that post I made about coming out of the crazy closet?

Looks like I"m going to have to put my money where my mouth is.

One of these days I really will learn to keep my mouth shut...

Really? I took the quote as being innocuous shorthand, using a common phrase of speech to paint a picture.

But I would.

Interesting that you should post this considering the post I made earlier tonight.

So how'd it end up evolving into an "open mouth, inset money" situation? I do believe that if people came out about their mental health issues that it might change the stigma attached because no amount of adds telling everyone that most of us will be effected by some form of mental illness in our lifetime seems to be getting it through to people that it's actually kinda NORMAL TO BE CRAZY!

Strangely, my partner's father lost a job because he refused to come out about his mental illness to his boss...but that was over 20 years ago and involved a lot of strange circumstances.

What you say about teh crazy is very true. I also have experienced the "if you are depressed you must lock yourself in the basement" effect.

Hope things are OK?

A topic I have been thinking a lot about recently, though I don't identify as crazy. I have been imagining workplaces where (in particular) we knew who had PTSD, though that's an imagination that leads in many directions.

Good luck!

I was in a training course yesterday where the instructor dropped a casual reference to people with clinical depression being "taken away by the men in the white coats" or words to that effect.

If somebody said something like that to me I could blow it off, but she's potentially doing this course with hundreds of people. I can't just let it go.

Yeah I don't think I could let that one drop either. How about an anonymous complaint?
