Date: 2010-02-12 06:06 am (UTC)So how'd it end up evolving into an "open mouth, inset money" situation? I do believe that if people came out about their mental health issues that it might change the stigma attached because no amount of adds telling everyone that most of us will be effected by some form of mental illness in our lifetime seems to be getting it through to people that it's actually kinda NORMAL TO BE CRAZY!
Strangely, my partner's father lost a job because he refused to come out about his mental illness to his boss...but that was over 20 years ago and involved a lot of strange circumstances.
