You know, as much pushback as the "Do You Want To Be A Mermaid Or A Whale" poster has gotten, I think it's a really good metaphor for the beauty industry.

Because, you know, mermaids are fictional.

Oh. Odd it hasn't leaked beyond FB to places I would see it, but that might happen in the next few days.

There have been some spectacular marketing fails of late (Dr Pepper -- which I understand is big in the US, so I assume visible in Canada -- has done a Not For Girls campaign, and there was some GM campaign which sparked the ire of cyclists), so this does not suprise me.

But I really like the image of women pursuing perfection as striving to be something that doesn't exist.

I think that might be over-thinking it. Or over-estimating the general population. But I otherwise agree,

Bring the graar.
