I haven't posted anything for a while because it really feels like I don't have anything to talk about. The basement is still full of boxes. I leave the house a lot more often. Some days I'm dizzy. That's pretty much it.

My shrink referred me to a study that compares the effectiveness of traditional CBT to Mindfulness CBT in preventing recurrance of severe depression. I'm in the MBCBT group. The first session was yesterday. I'm not quite sure how I feel about it yet, but I figured I'll go through the process and see what happens. So now I have an hour of homework to do every night.

As part of the study they did an MRI of my brain. That was... interesting. Who knew magnets were so loud? I was in there for a couple of hours doing cognition tests, my body so completely swaddled that the only thing I could move was my toes and fingers. They're a lot smaller on the inside than they look on TV. I felt like I was about to be shot out of a cannon or sling-shotted into space or something.

So I can cross that off my bucket list.

Of course I asked if I could have a copy of the pictures. My boss suggested getting the image printed on note paper so I could send people memos "From Siobhan's Brain".

I need to get myself organized before I head out of town for Convergence. I'm actually not even a little bit stressed about going on a trip somewhere. That makes for a nice change.

I liken it to the fourth-dimensional sound from Threshold.

That's one of my ideas of hell right there.

That study sounds interesting - I wonder if it's something that might be beneficial for Jon. Can I ask who is running it? Is there a link to it somewhere? He could maybe ask his psychiatrist about it.

Thanks! I told Jon about it and he's really interested - if only to undergo an MRI! I'll get him to call on Monday (assuming they're not open on weekends).

Oops, I keep forgetting to reply over here.

I have all of Thich Nhat Hanh's recorded dharma talks on mp3 . . . just in case.
