I swear [livejournal.com profile] theweaselking generates half the content on my f-list these days. Anyway, he posted a link to this Kickstarter campaign which looks absolutely hilarious. A movie made from a Chick tract about the evils of table-top role-playing games. I'm tempted to throw in for it, except I swore I was going to get my credit card paid off this month.

I actually had somebody hand me a Chick tract once on the NYC subway. If I recall correctly it was all about how Native Americans are all going to hell. I think I gave it to Jealousy.

I was a late-comer to RPG's. My first ever experience was with the evil ex, who had a D&D campaign going with some guys he knew from high school. I created the world's worst thief who kept trying to steal shit from the other players and getting caught. They were all SERIUS BIZNESS! and hated having me in the game. I didn't like them much either and I never went back after that first attempt.

Years later I played a few games with my friends and those were hilarious and a lot more fun because nobody took themselves too seriously. One of the early ones was a space campaign where we were all infected with a virus that turned us into Oompa Loompas so we could only speak in rhyme. That pretty much redeemed RPGs for me and there were a few campaigns after that although it's now been a few years since I played one.

Axel has been playing a live-action RPG for the last year or so that takes him to New Jersey once a month to fight zombies. It sounds like an awesome setup and he's encouraged me to come along but... I get the house all to myself for an entire weekend. That's a wonderful thing for an introvertlivingwithanextrovert and I hate the idea of giving it up.
