I'm sitting here in the IPM Radio studios, and I feel the need to tell this story.

My main pay-the-rent job is at Canadian Blood Services, which supplies all the blood to all the hospitals in Canada. Yesterday the Toronto centre called all the local hospitals to warn them that all the blood products that had been collected from July to October were being put on quarantine. The official announcement was made today.

Five minutes after the phones were put down the orders for replacement products started pouring in. Work load went bugfuck at the exact time that we were having staff shortages for various reasons.

Today, the reporters landed.

They wanted pictures. Of course this involved getting a non-lab person to pose with a product, since none of the people who were actually work there were moving slow enough to take a picture of it. Getting in the way the entire time.

Then the TV camera moved in.

Jesus fuck.

I made a point of having my fly open the entire time, just to make sure that they couldn't actually use any pictures that had me in them.
