This weekend I got to stand in an office with big glass windows that afforded me an excellent view of the driver taking his 9' truck under an 8'6" underpass. At speed.

I must say, it was impressive.

The parkways along the river here in Boston are slathered with signs saying no trucks, low underpass, height warnings etc. Yet every year, when the students are due to move in, there are popular betting pools as to when the first UHaul will get stuck under a bridge. I've seen the aftermath of an accident, but never one in progress.

Sounds noisy! Did the underpass survive?

From what I could see it looked like the internal structure was still good, but it took off all the drywall & metal sheeting on the outside. Which then rained down all over the windshield of the truck.
