Reading the comments to this letter reassures me that I am not alone on the "just let me do my fucking work that you pay me for and then go the fuck home" bus.

I Do Not Like the recent trend towards wanting work to be "fun". I do not go to work to have fun, I go to work to get paid. Also my co-workers' idea of fun makes me want to chew my own leg off to get away from it.

Sadly it's far from a recent trend, I was fending it off 25 years ago.

I "interviewed" (AS THE YANKS SAY) a few years back, and I mentioned that having fun at work was important.
They seemed confused by that.
I maintain, moreso now, it is important.
Fun, being a variable.

I might feel differently if any of my deadlines ever got extended because somebody decided to plop some "fun" into the middle of my workweek.
