I assume this doesn't mean carding, as in checking ID to buy booze.

It is the policy by Toronto police of stopping black people, primarily men, and running random ID checks.

Ah. We call that 'stop and search' here, but I gather it's more colourblind, but then the city is smaller and you can pretty much tell folks who might be up to no good from a vast distance.

I was stopped and searched once.
