I think I mentioned a while ago that I was looking into taking archery lessons. I think I've found a good fit. The Academy of European Medieval Martial Arts has a space for two hours a week where you can go and mess around with longbows. The instruction is pretty informal and it's on a drop-in basis, which suits me perfectly. I also picked the best time of the year to start; it's their quiet season because most people are on vacation which means I get lots of one-on-one time.

I did my first class this past Saturday and I LOVED IT. I ended up having to quit after the first hour because my hands were killing me, but that will come. They want newcomers to use the club gear for the first couple of months so you can try out different weights and figure out what works best. Once I get to the point of needing my own bow I might sign up for their bow-making workshop.

I can also say I now know why the Amazons were reputed to chop off one of their boobs. I may have to invest in a binder.
