So, [livejournal.com profile] the_axel, [livejournal.com profile] caspervonb, [livejournal.com profile] electroyte and I are planning on driving to Convergence 9.

Tentative plans include stop-overs in Detroit and Chicago -- then swooping south-west and catching as much impressive scenery and cheesy roadside entertainment as possible.

Anybody en route want to put up a bunch of Canadians? Or have you got recommends for Things That Must Not Be Missed?

Hey, if you feel like hanging out in LA for a spell after C9, you are welcome to crash at my place. :)

Oh...and to answer the Things Not To Be Missed question...

Detroit - Mac lives there. ;)

World's Largest McDonald's spans the turnpike between Tulsa, OK and Joplin, MO. Also features a shop carrying random McDonald's toys (like my small, inflatable Grimace).

Cool meteor crater off the 40 just east of Flagstaff, AZ. (Don't know if you'll be down that way, but it's pretty impressive.)

If you *do* go to Flagstaff, swing north to see the Grand Canyon. :D

There is some town in Colorado or western Kansas or someplace out that direction that has a headless chicken that is venerated with its own special weekend (complete with a parade!) each year. I forget what town it's in, but my friend was telling me about it, because he went to the festival last year.

Not sure what path you are taking but if you are going on I-70 across Kansas we are just past Kansas City and can put you all up.

Lots of recommendations for Things Wot Shouldn't Be Missed, but they're all well out of the way and would take days on their own. Maybe I'll save 'em for a recommendation for next summer when you're in the area for cX

If [livejournal.com profile] the_macross hasn't claimed you for Detroit already, I'm happy to offer my place. :)

*perk*

If Cincinnati isn't too far out of your way, I'd love to see you guys again. And I now have a house, so I have lots of places for people to sleep if convenient. And I've been working on putting together a local gargoyle tour. We don't have too many of them, but the ones we do have are truly fantastic.
