First jab successfully jabbed!

It turns out to be this trial. Axe & I went together and the doctor said he thought the doses were just alternated with the placebo so chances are good at least one of us got the real thing. In three weeks we get the second jab, and then in three months they'll swap. So we'll both be fully immunized by mid-summer. There's an app to be updated with symptoms every day and a bunch of follow-up questionnaires to be filled out. And of course, regular car rentals to get to Brampton. Well worth it, IMO.

My blood pressure was unusually high and I told him it was because I was nervous. "I haven't been into a doctor's office in over a year!" It was back to normal by the time he measured it again.


[ETA] My upper arm is now achy and hot - I think I may have been the lucky winner.

Tell me about it. I was so needle-phobic as a kid - my family has a story how, when my little sister was born, I got strep and they couldn't come home from the hospital until I had a penicillin shot, and I was so "ill-behaved"* that three nurses had to chase me around the exam room and they lifted up a chair with me clinging to the bottom of it.

Whereas with this I was like "GET IT IN ME NOW, PLEASE."

Also: Wild to see a bunch of Americans now referring to "getting my jab" or "getting the second jab" all of a sudden. It's like we morphed from "shot" to "jab" overnight - I suppose thanks to news of the vaccine being rolled out so globally all at once that You Monarchists' Ainglish has won by sheer numbers???

It's Medicago's own version. They specialize in vaccines that are made of non-infectious proteins designed to look like the virus to the immune system. (Traditional vaccines are whole or partial viruses rendered non-infectious in some way.)

I think it's mildly hilarious that you got the world-destroying pandemic jab, and I got the regular old seasonal 'flu shot at about the same time.

My arm was on fire for a full day, is still a little sore two days on, and I have woken up just now with the "mild flu like symptoms.
