what we need right now is a culture shock
Oct. 26th, 2021 10:35 pmWe still (STILL!) don't have an official start date on the renos, but Axe is heading stateside the second the border opens so we're getting everything ready before they leave. We're mostly done with emptying out the kitchen and our stuff is scattered all over the place; stacked in half-packed boxes and spread out across every flat surface in the house.
I was trying to make lunch this afternoon and something I had on the stove started smoking. I couldn't find the oven mitts. I also couldn't find the word oven mitts and just kept yelling, "Where are the... the..." Finally I yelled "Hands! For hot things!" and made crab pincer motions until Axel fished them out of a box and handed them to me.
So you know. Things are progressing.
I've been taking time off work to get this done - just one day a week, but of course this means that I am ridiculously far behind on absolutely everything. Doesn't help that this is our busiest time of the year.
We also finally got the scoop on return to the office. Sometime in the new year, and I'm officially in the group that will be in the office one or two days a month. I figure I can probably live with that. I will tell you though, am never going unmasked in public ever again. I managed to not get a chest infection last winter - for the first time in probably a decade - and I am very much a fan.
I need a vacation. Which incidentally I am also behind on.
