Montreal has consisted mostly of lying around like a lizard which has been - a very welcome break to be honest. The Frenchman has forced me to watch hours of Bojack Horseman, (which is surprisingly good) and help kill his gin supply. There has been a small amount of furniture moving to pay my rent but far less than I would be doing if I were at home.

I haven't had much desire to Do Things, which is probably a) a sign of just how burnt out I was when I got here and b) just as well given that Things Done Not Inside One's House are closing up around me as I speak. Hopefully I can still get on a train when it's time to go home.

On Monday I get home and regular life starts back up. Which means figuring out Xmas and honestly I have no idea what we're going to do about that. Mostly what I'm worried about right now is the Old Man - Omicron is proving to be highly infectious, and although I'm somewhat resigned to catching it eventually, for him it would be a major health risk. But he wants to do Xmas dinner with his family. So I'm trying to figure out the best strategy for dealing with that.

Fortunately this is is future Siobhan's problem.

I really enjoyed Bojack Horseman -- were you starting from the beginning? :-)

Best of luck with the travel, etc!

Wow, that must have been quite a ride! I think it took us a few months to get through it. :-)

High fives all around.

And, empathy on many levels - the sense of "once I go, can I get back?" and things possibly closing up around you (no such thing actually happening here but honestly it probably should....) plus also concern for an Old Man who is likely determined to expose himself to COVID via having some sort of funeral when his wife finally passes.

Bojack Horseman, (which is surprisingly good)

This is about the highest praise I have heard of for the show, which honestly feels like one of those things that should be best enjoyed at 3am, drunk, coming home from the club.

Hopefully I can still get on a train when it's time to go home.

Good luck!

But he wants to do Xmas dinner with his family. So I'm trying to figure out the best strategy for dealing with that.

I'd suggest an Australian-style outdoor Christmas, but I suspect Canadian weather will not oblige.

Admittedly, I don't have a lot of experience because of where I live, or any science training, but I have a gut feeling Omicron isn't going to be under control for a few months,

The R_eff on the Hunter Valley cluster here (a postive person went nightclubbing while waiting for a result) was 300+.

I think the R_eff for Sydney, where they are letting Jesus take the wheel and trusting in personal responsibility, was 16 yesterday. Cases are doubling every three days. Is Rob Ford (or Doug?) available. We might need better leadership!
