safe as houses

The new place is going to be wonderful. Note the "going to be". Right now it is kinda gross, mostly because the people who lived there smoked, and washing the nicotine off walls so we can camp out in a particular room without giving ourselves nightmares is severely disgusting.
On the plus side nothing makes you feel quite so much like a million dollars as a nice hot shower followed by beer-and-wings on a local patio after scrubbing yellow-coloured goo in 34 degree weather for four-five hours. I expect to be feeling like a million dollars quite frequently over the next month.
Advantages to being/living with an ex-squattie -- you can tolerate sub-optimal living conditions for a while, and you know how to do things like hook up your own utilities.
--------------------
Jenn met a bunch of my friends on Monday. Friends like her. She likes friends. She participated quite happily in the up-till-five-am beer-drinking and shit-talking that inaugurated getting the keys to the new place.
I am so completely floored by how cool this all is that I keep looking under the table to figure out where the catch is hiding.
--------------------
And on a completely different note:
One of the things I've been keeping my eye on lately is the progress of the GothCon Boycott over at
gcinquisition.
Technically I have no personal stake in all this, since I've never been to a GothCon and don't know any of the people involved. But I do figure I have something of a professional interest in knowing which promoters are competent, professional and honest and in what events are worthy of possible sponsorship. And quite frankly a purely personal curiosity in knowing what the hell really happened.
As the next GothCon approaches, there have been a lot more posts from current organizers -- both in the community and elsewhere -- denying that there was any wrongdoing on
000100010001's part. Fair enough. But so far those who are calling for the boycott have been able to present a cohesive list of links, letters and other evidence to back up their claims. Those who would defend GothCon have only made vague claims and accusations that contradict each other and previous statements made by
000100010001.
So -- if you were weighing the evidence. Who would you believe?

I've been following the GothCon problem for the same reasons as you. I see the proof shown by the Boycott people and read the comments made by Snow's flunkies (esp. Ugly Shyla), and believe the Boycott people. They have written proof. And Snow's excuses wear very thin after reading them.
