Fuck economic indicators. The shuffle into bigger, brighter nicer digs is the real signal that the Toronto housing market has just opened up. And with everybody moving into the
The place where I dropped off the U-haul last night was right next to the railroad tracks, so I experimented with walking home along the rails. They really do lead me right to my backyard.
It's an interesting take on the city that you don't otherwise get to see much of. Back doors open into factorys full of screeching machines, abandoned lots, walls covered in elabourate graffiti. I passed under a bridge that showed signs of recent occupation. Junk yard dogs howled at me from behind high metal fences and every sound echoed along the long open corridor.
Next time I'll wear better shoes though, and long pants -- the only place to walk was either on the heavy gravel bed the rails lie on, or in high grass full of sharp spiney plants.
Now I'm fucking off to Shaw with
Well no work except for the whole straightening out the flights issue over the phone.

moving to Canada
Date: 2003-08-07 09:55 pm (UTC)The Canadian Immigration website is here (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.html).
There is a quiz you can take to find out if you qualify simply on your work experience. It starts here (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/skilled/assess/Education.asp) -- 75 points is a sure thing. (Immigrating to the Canada is a lot simpler than other countries -- there are very clear requirements and you either have enough points to get in or you don't.)
Of course the easiest way is to marry a Canadian. :-)
