I slept for 10 hours last night. Go me.

Because the timing could not be better, this is the week the insurance company has decided that somebody has to come around and inspect our house.

Then again, maybe the timing isn't so bad. I've been going slowly nuts over the piles of almost-but-not-quite-done-being-sorted crap all over the place, and I really need to clear some space for [livejournal.com profile] lee_chaos to sleep in. (I hope to hell he's not allergic to dust.) [livejournal.com profile] the_axel has been a prince about taking care of all the laundry and dishes while I've been running around like a maniac, but figuring out where things are going to live and what can be put in storage really requires two people.

Of course what he's really interested in is the wiring (fucked) and the heating (slightly less fucked) but I'm pretty sure that reducing the fire-trap ambiance might not be an unwise move as well.

(The rust-coloured water that comes out of the taps whenever they start digging on my street, however, is not our fault and cannot be held against us.)

And at some point I need to cook the last of the meat so I can de-ice the freezer.

alt.polycon went pretty well -- it was a small group, but everybody seemed to be pretty happy with everything. The hotel did a good job in spite of some prior arguing, and I actually got to spend some time in the consuite engaging in the fine art of the Bullshit.

And Toronto shows well for guests. She really does. I love this city.

And exactly one week from today, Catalyst will be over.

Oh. My. God.

I had an insurance inspector decide that I had debris in my back yard (a table and bench were Debris as was a few other yard type items) as well as some facias that needed painting and repair. They ended up being totally unreasonable about the whole thing which made things tricky. I ended up going with another insurance company and much to my luck found a receipt my mom had filed away on a new roof. That entitled me to a lower rate for the roof repair part of the insurance policy. Rather good in the long run, but a royal pain in the arse in the short term.
