five weeks to touchdown
Mar. 31st, 2004 10:20 amWoke up today with pins and needles in both arms from wrist to elbow.
I'm pretty sure that's not good.
-----------------------------------
The wonderful
the_axel fixed my computer last night while I was at work, so I can actually read things on the screen again. Unfortunately, I lost about a weeks worth of mail. If you sent me anything in the last week, please re-send as it's gone to the great recycling box in the sky. If you sent it longer ago than that, well, I'm just a spaz.
-----------------------------------
I woke up this morning coughing and hacking because I had just inhaled something.
I'm telling myself it was a piece of lint.
-----------------------------------
For some reason my bathtub is full of these.
Might have something to do with all the rain.
This is nothing to do with the way I woke up this morning, and I will brook no suggestions otherwise. I do not sleep in the bathtub, and besides, that was a piece of lint.
-----------------------------------
And the biggest and bestest news for last - I now live with one of these
Her name is Lola, she's two years old, and slightly over a foot long. (I think. I haven't been able to get her to unwrap fully yet.) I am utterly smitten.
I must now get a decent thermometre and a heat lamp, because she likes it a lot hotter than I do.
I'm pretty sure that's not good.

Date: 2004-03-31 08:03 am (UTC)Euuwwww! Pillbugs. Ick!
Congrats on the new snake. I know you've missed having one. :)
I'm irrationally afraid of snakes, but I might be persuaded to make her acquaintance the next time I'm over.

Date: 2004-03-31 08:09 am (UTC)When I had my last snake (a corn snake) I lived in a house with a cat. They never really registered each other - I think the snake didn't look enough like anything she was familiar with to register as another animal.
She wasn't much of a hunter though, so that might have had something to do with it.
Great icon by the way!!!
Thanks - there's a site generator out there somewhere - but true to form I've completely forgotten where I got it.

Date: 2004-03-31 08:24 am (UTC)And because they've been bred in captivity for a long time, they have some really cool colour strains. My first snake was a blood corn (http://www.tainoreptiles.com/files/mcrea.jpg).

Date: 2004-03-31 08:30 am (UTC)Come to think of it, I did find kittens in the basement once at the manor. So there you go.
As insects go, pillbugs don't bother me for some reason. Possibly because they are so slow-moving and harmless. The Volvos of the insect world.

Date: 2004-03-31 09:23 am (UTC)My mom even offered to help me buy one for Christmas/Birthday/whatever. She's got one named Aristotle. Sometimes, my family Doesn't Suck.

Date: 2004-03-31 10:14 am (UTC)But I still yelp when a garter spooks me by slithering in the grass. I'd yelp if similarly surprised by a kitten, too. *shrug* I'm just easily spooked. And consequently glad to leave my last job, where there were lots of random loud noises from lots of potentially-deadly equipment.

Date: 2004-03-31 11:19 am (UTC)the pillbugs, of course. :)
(ok, the snake is damn cool, i admit. but pillbugs are way more useful. though maybe not in the bathtub.)

I did that a couple of weeks ago. Mine was a feather. Yes it was. It was too. REALLY IT WAS!
