German zombie dreams
Oct. 20th, 2005 01:20 pmThanks to zombie-shooting games, I am dreaming about the damn things again.
In this particular dream, there were five of us walking across a barren desert with huge backpacks full of food and water. Me,
the_axel,
caspervonb,
silentq (who was travelling on crutches) and somebody else I couldn't identify. A male, a little taller than me and blonde.
The desert didn't feel natural, more like something had happened to blast the whole are into hard-packed dun-coloured sand. Other than a few wrecked and abandoned cars there wasn't anything in it, so there was lots of space to see the zombies coming. I had plenty of chances to practice, so I was an ace shot by the time we had finished crossing it.
The next scene we were in a cul-de-sac at the end of a housing development. Just a small number of wide-spaced houses backing into open fields. We went to the first house and kicked in the door, yelled "HUMANS" and waited. There was a shuffling sound inside, so we stepped in, shot the zombie and then went from room to room, clearing out the house.
the_axel and
silentq went into the kitchen and started digging around for supplies while blonde guy guarded the door and
caspervonb and I continued upstairs.
I was looking out the window on the top floor and I saw two jeeps pulling up. They stopped and a group of men in German army office uniforms leapt out. They paid absolutely no attention to the half-dozen or so zombies that were shambling around amongst the houses. Instead one of the men laid a blanket out on the common and two of them stretched out on it, while the others ran from house to house. When three of the zombies made a bee-line for the pair, they jumped up, grabbed their blanket and ran into our house.
I turned and headed dowwn the stairs. I could see one of them coming up towards me through the railings, so I yelled, "HUMAN" to warn him I was there. He shreiked in terror and fled down the stairs.
My gaydar was going off like a fire alarm.
I went into the kitchen where
the_axel was talking to the other one in German. As I walked in he hoisted up his backpack onto his shoulder and said, "Let's go."
As we headed towards the door, I asked him, "What's the deal with the Germans?"
"I'll tell you later."
When we walked outside the rest of our group was there waiting for us. I could see some of the other men in uniforms loading goods onto their jeeps. A small black and white cat was creeping through the common, so I got down on one knee and made chirping noises at her, holding out my left hand until she finally came cautiously over to be scritched. A zombie started stumbling towards us. The others didn't notice it, so I finally had to sling my gun-holding hand across the one I was using to pet the cat and blow it's head off. The cat bolted in terror.
I said, "Fuck" and stood up.
I woke up, looked over at Axel who was sleeping soundly next to me and said, "So what is the deal with those Germans?"

Date: 2005-10-20 07:59 pm (UTC)Come on, I'm so set for such an exercise. Besides, SilentQ would be so much safer in the turret of the ferret (and she wouldn't have to hobble around on crutches). Though, you and Axel would have to content yourself with riding on top of the vehicle shooting down at the zombies. Sadly since I don't have a GKN Saxon to take us all in safely.
