Today when I walked into the training classroom, there were toys all over the desks. At my particular work station, there were a bunch of dice and a couple of plastic dinosaurs.

So of course I grabbed the dinosaurs, mashed them together and yelled, "Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!"

And that is how I found out that there are no other geeks in my training class.

Annoyingly, when I read that quote I heard Principal Skinner's voice, rather than Wash, and I had too google the quote.

Clearly, I need to buy Serenity and rewatch Firefly.

Which is to say, I think of myself as a geek, at least FSVO geek (and I think that acronym is evidence in favor), and I have no idea what that is a reference to.

One of the more popular quotes (http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Firefly) from the Firefly pilot.

Ahh sadness.

But that is the first thing I would have done with a set of dinosaurs myself.

I understand. It broke my heart the day I called out to a departing coworker, "Have fun storming the castle!" and they all turned and looked at me strangely.

I've done that. And continue to do things like even after I've discovered I'm the only geek. Someone MUST spread the geekery. I am not ashamed of my role in the workplace!

I have plastic dinosaurs on my desk at work. I play with them when I'm on the phone.

During orientation at the casino, the trainer asked if anyone had any questions at all. NO ONE piped up. SO, of course, I raise my hand and ask:

"What's the average airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?"

No one got the reference. SO yeah, feel your pain.

Oh dear. That truly is sad.

So, is it an African swallow or an European swallow?
