I rode my bike home from work today. That in itself isn't unusual, I've been taking my bike to work a lot lately so I can ride it home.

What was different about tonight is that there is a raging thunderstorm going on outside. Completele with lightning flashing all over the sky.

I feel like I'm wet seven layers down.

I guess it's no fun after you start getting chased by lightning flashes and rain in your face.

I wanted to go run it, but we had just put the kids to sleep and they would have wanted to come out too.;P

It was mostly being almost completely blind when the rain got really heavy.

Every time something like this happens, I think of all the women I know who paint on their eyebrows and I wonder how they manage to keep the water out of their eyes.

Then I realize they probably stay out of the rain...

I agree with the joy of riding through thunderstorm and can sympathize with feeling like you will never be dry again once you get home.

with that said, there are few dilemmas more vexing than trying to decide whether one should put on glasses and deal with all of the beaded droplets eventually obscuring your vision, or keep the glasses off and deal with needle-like liquid projectiles stabbing one's eyeballs repeatedly.

Do you have the "stripe" up your back?
That was the biggest downside of the one time I got caught in a big storm.

Of dirt and sand and stuff. When you're riding in the rain the water goes vertical up off your back tire. If your back fender isn't good, you get the "stripe" up your back from your butt to mid-back. Mmmmmmm sandy pants!

Ah, gotcha. I have a carrier on the back with my knapsack strapped to it. So no stripe.

Plus great, wide off road rear fender to protect your knapsack.
