Who else is doing Nanowrimo this year?

([livejournal.com profile] firecat, [livejournal.com profile] hobbitbabe and [livejournal.com profile] serenejournal, I've already added you to my buddy list.)

Before I'd set my wedding date, I'd toyed with the idea of making an attempt this year. In fact, before the reality of November crashed down on my conscious brain sometime in the past 45-60 days, NaNoWriMo danced in the back of my head.

Le sigh.

Next year may be my next attempt (since November 2002).

Yeah, a wedding would pretty much do it. :-)

I'm hoping I'll be able to come up with a decent idea for next year. This one has been hanging around for a while.

I wonder if one could do a graphic novel as a project. You'd have to adjust the word count.

Yah know, I don't think I've ever used the boards.

I do swoop by the "buddies" list though, when I'm feeling stuck and I want to see how other people are doing.

I'm making another attempt. A sequel to my half-finished novel from last year.

I think so: http://www.nanowrimo.org/userinfo.php?uid=76728

Silly question - how do you add someone back...?

If you go to your own page and click "my Nanowrimo" -> "Writing Buddies" there is a screen where you can add people if you know their user ID.

If you can find people through the search function you can also add them from their page.

I'm still undecided, but I'm Maize on there if you want to do the buddy thing. :)

I'm scared of commitment. But I do think I'm going to make an effort to write every day in November.

Me! I'm plain ol' Barbarella on there. Dom might be doing it this year, too, but might end up only doing it "unofficially".

I'm planning to, although I have to also assemble my grad school application portfolio, so I'm wondering how realistic my intentions really are.

Huh. I was wondering about this "username" business, and then went off to the site, and was taken aback to discover that these people seem to be claiming--backed up by the Wikipedia article--that they invented this thing in 1999. I first heard about it from Adam Pasquella in Clark Hall Pub at Queen's University, and I haven't been there since 1996. And it wasn't an interweb thing then. May not have been called NaNoWriMo, but I'm actually fairly confident it was. The idea was the same, anyway.

Er, strike that, probably. [livejournal.com profile] tetsab suggests that I'm thinking of a novel-in-a-weekend thing, which seems about right.
