running on empty

I'm at the "I suppose I should eat something" stage.
My stomach has a tendancy to shut itself off if I ignore it long enough. I figure it's a side effect of having had to go hungry for extended periods in my life.
So I wander around the house poking at the various things in the fridge -- the things that aren't green and fuzzy, anyway -- but nothing looks appealing.
It doesn't normally bother me to go for a week or so without eating, but coming so soon after the grab-one-meal-a-day-on-the-run that is my Convergence experience, I realized today that I've lost a whole lot of weight in a very short time period. So I think it's probably not good to let this go on for too long.
I think what I need is to grab some fruit before I go to work. Sugar is usually pretty good for jump-starting an appetite.

Date: 2002-06-12 10:36 am (UTC)you can also add natural maple syrup for added trace elements. The honey will provide an energy boost, and the rest will start to replenish your nutrient flow without upsetting your currently resting and low-acid stomach.
lemonade!
Date: 2002-06-13 06:36 am (UTC)Mac, you are a genius. This worked like a charm -- sipped on it all afternoon and by evening my stomach was growling.
A week?
Date: 2002-06-12 10:56 am (UTC)I second Mac's very good advice about starting with juice, especially seeing as you were sick earlier in the week.
Re: A week?
Date: 2002-06-13 06:34 am (UTC)You have got to be kidding, right? You can actually go a whole week without eating? I can't go three hours without eating.
A week is pushing it a bit, but I've done it in the past. Happened a lot two summers ago, when the ulcer was really bad.
It's one of the pluses of having a slow metabolism. After the Zombie Apocalypse, I'll still be running around putting the (nice) boots to the undead while the rest of the world is reduced to fighting over rat meat.
I swear, I'm going to start leaving big jars of homemade soup on your doorstep.
Ooo, got any good recipes for Gazpacho? I start having cravings around this time of year...

Date: 2002-06-13 08:44 am (UTC)You must have a hella slow metabolism. Me, my metabolism is still pretty fast, even if it did slow down a bit when I hit 30. How else to explain the 15 pounds I gained over the past year and a half?
Zombie Apocalypse? They'll be nice zombies, right? Friendly zombies?

I do indeed. In fact, I had you over for dinner last summer and made some for you. ;)
Wanna come over and have drinks and gazpacho on our deck? We deserve to relax dammit! ;)
