Perfect couch? It'd have drawers under it, instead of legs and space that needed vaccuuming, and would have cupholders in the arms. If it were upholstered with black and white stripes with something like canvas, that'd be good too. Spill and cat-fur resistant.
I like being able to vacuum under the couch easily, I don't want a dust ruffle at all. Mmm, cupholders. :) Striped couches are neat looking, but I'm not sure I could live with anything other than a solid colour - I don't want the couch to be the focus of the room, really, just a place to sit. Off to the store to sit on couches!
I don't actually want a pull out in mine, as those are bloody heavy to move around. High enough back and arm rests to make it comfy for upright movie watching and horizontal book reading are a must though. I'm leaning away from black - when I had my black velvet couch it showed up every speck of lint and I'd have to vacuum it regularly. I want a solid colour, but I'm leaning toward grey right now, or burgundy. As much as leather would be easy to clean, I hate sliding off of it, so cloth it shall be. :)
I used to have a cat (RIP Scooter), she was an orange & white kitty that had her own little puddle of white fur on a corner of my black couch. :) Because I was allergic to her, I'd vacuum once a week without fail. After an afternoon of sitting on various couches, I found the one I wanted and was told that the colour I desire entails a custom order and a 1.5-2 month wait. :/ Couch shopping is not for those who require immediate gratification.
Damn I missed my opportunity to chime in in time. The perfect couch in my mind would be sorta a modular bed/couch amalgam.
I like solid colours better as well but they visibly stain easier. A pattern hides the stain better. The problem is patterns often get dated if you don't pick a good one. It's a trade off I guess.

Reasonably easy to clean because my house is a dust-fest.
Black. :-)
