Figured I'd post some pictures of what things look like now.

It's kinda weird trying to look at the place through the eyes of people who have never seen it. The place is pretty is pretty much a squat in some ways, but we've managed to make it comfortable enough until we have the cash to get it fixed up.

The plastic is covering all the doors in preparation for getting the basement floor cut up. The black plastic-swathed bundle in the lower left is a leather couch that we wrapped up because we can't fit it up the stairs or through the front door.

The hole in the top of the wall to the right of the red pole was carved out so we could figure out if that wall is supporting anything. The answer is no. That means that the red pole is currently the only thing holding the house up.

Our new furnace. I am perpetually amused that it is smaller than the vents that feed air into it. The sign on the upper right says, "Tap", another thing that amuses the hell out of me. What can I say, I'm easily amused.

Bikes and wine!

This is the cold room. The stuff behind the wine rack is spare bike parts, the boxes are full of wine and beer bottles that are not currently in use, and the grey thing the bikes are leaning against is the bathtube we use for marinating the pig. Resting on it's side at the moment, since we are sans pig.

We had no choice but to patch the bathroom up, the drywall was so rotten the sink fell off the wall. "Patch" is all we did, eventually the plan is to just tear it out and start over.

These walls all came out of a box. No foolin'.

A somewhat fuzzy close-up of where the basement support beam used to be. We couldn't see the hole when we bought the place because of the massive vents from the 32 year old furnace. Imagine our chagrin.

The crowbar is just there because it's a handy place to hang a crowbar.

Can you spot the hidden goth in this photo?

You win the prize!!!

Not sure what that is yet, but I'm sure we can come up with something suitable.

Er, how did you get the black leather couch *in* the basement? Did you build it down there?

And the wine! Can I come party at your house?!? I'm real handy with drywall and paint and wallpaper...

When I said "front door" I meant the one from the outside of the house into the main floor. It fits through the door into the basement, but we can't put it anywhere else. So we wrapped it up.

And by the time we get to the drywalling we will be more than happy of the help. :-)

...is your house SAFE with just that pole there?

Also, nice goth. Where'd you get it? :)

Nope.

One of our Major Construction Project To Be Completed Any Day Now is the installation of a new beam, coming soon to a photoblog near you.

I gave him a lift when he was blind. True story.
