I just dumped some stuff out of my knapsack so I wouldn't be carting around anything I didn't need and I found...

a box cutter.

I wonder if that was there the last time I got on a plane?

The funny thing is that since the rules have changed, box cutters are not an effective means of taking over a plane. A 20 lb piece of lugggage in the space of an aisle is a much more effective counter to such items and torn between crashing and dying and beating the shit out of the box cutter wielding maniac (not that you'd do/be either on a plane) is highly preferable, even if you might get cut.

Any time I take my keys I have one of those looks-like-a-key knife/screwdriver dealies, and it's never been noticed. Then again, it closes so tightly I can't use it anyway, and would probably injure myself more trying to get it open than I would ever injure anyone else with it. One of these years I should figure out how to lube it.

Yeah. They might have all this security stuff going, yet I seem to be able to drag all this funny stuff through airports all the time.

I've taken to never presenting my passport or other ID unless explicitly asked for it, and currently I can most of the time travel throughout Western Europe without ever presenting ID. On the other hand, the time NorthWest in O'Hare gave me another guy's boarding pass (same last name, same flight), I did not dare try my luck with the security line. I like to catch my plane, after all.
