More contrast is all it needs - as oonh[1] suggested a lighter shade of grey for the background would make all the difference in the world.

As kest did, you too can put MediaWiki:Monobook.css into the search box to see what the current overrides are, and edit page User:your_id/monobook.css to play with them. When better's found, say the word and I plug it in site-wide. And that goes for anyone else, actually.

I'm not sure if the page itself can be deleted, but I've taken off the link to it. (I'll check with Axe, since he has super-user powers.)

Keep in mind that there nothing stopping anybody from re-adding content. It might be a permanent solution to come up with your own content that you can live with. Up to you, of course.
