Sick, vet, sick, sick, power failure, sick, sick, sick, sick, and trying to give antibiotics to a reptile that objects very strongly to the entire process.
Current Location:the Universe continues to have a sense of humour
I hope it wasn't that heating pad I left you guys with... if so its supposed to be guaranteed. I could raise a little hell, if necessary.
I know how much fun it is to give snakes antibiotics... out of curiousity, did you go to Links Rd, or High Park? or some other snake vet that I don't know of? (i try to keep my resources and recommendations up to date :)
Sorry for the late response. I get overwhelmed easily and then shit just sits around for months, yada yada yada.
It was the heat pad. It was plugged into a surge protector, so I have no idea what happened.
And I brought her to High Park. They've been great. (If expensive. It's a small glimpse into what I would be dealing with on a regular basis if I lived in the States. Holy crap!)
no worries at all... just read your most recent post, and I empathize comepletely. Been in that spot too.
I'm sorry it was the heat pad. I've been using the identical brand myself for years, and haven't had any malfunctions. I believe it should still be under warranty even and I'd be willing to try and pursue some restitution for you, if you like.
And yay for High Park! Aside from them being awesome and 2 of their vets (names escape me at the moment) are much more knowledgeable than the Links Rd docs on reptiles. They are (or at least used to be, in my experience) more reasonable than Links Rd, who will send you for a second mortgage in vet bills.
Hope she's doing better and anything I can do to help, let me know!

Date: 2009-01-20 06:24 pm (UTC)Lola wriggles like crazy to avoid having her head firmly held in placce by Siobhan.
Eventually Siobhan triumphs.
Siobhan forces open her mouth with a rubber tipped gum massager (so it won't damage her teeth).
I insert a soft tipped syringe down her throat & inject the medicine.

Date: 2009-01-20 03:02 pm (UTC)Now I'm curious. How do you administer medicine to a snake?
Hope you're both feeling better soon.
