That's because proper winter weather is best dealt with as a spectator sport.

No, proper winter weather is 25 degrees, sunny, and me in my flippy flops.

Not only possible, but a daily occurrence for several months of the year in Saskatchewan.

And people wonder why I don't live there any more.

Considering I met my daily sweat quota by 10am... I am interested.

Happened to me regularly as a kid walking to and waiting for the school bus. Eyelashes, nose hairs, and wet head hair all froze. Doesn't even have to be that cold (probably around -15°C).

When people here start acting like society is going to grind to a halt because it's -5 I think about things like this.

And quit my bitching. :)

Did the liquid in your nose also freeze on every inhalation?

I hate that.

The eyelash thing is kinda cool, by contrast.

I had a kafia pulled up over my nose and my hat pulled down over my eyebrows - my eyes were the only thing showing.

maybe get some ski goggles?

I considered getting a pair my last winter in Chicago. NYC gets fucking cold, but not like Chi or Toronto.

brrrrr.

It's supposedly 27 (approx -2 C) degrees here, but I think that's bullshit. I had to bust out my sleepingbag coat this week.

I discovered that I can (essentially) see through my scarf if it's light enough out.

Streetlamps provide almost enough light.

I rode to work yesterday, and if not for the wind, it would have been fine. :) It was around -11C on the way there w/o windchill, but I checked once I got home in the evening and it was -12C but -22C with windchill. Stupid wind.

That.

That is why I moved to the desert.

It will get down to freezing at night here, but it only snows once every 18-20 YEARS.

The whole freezing-icy-snowy-Weather thing is best viewed from a good long distance.

I hate the cold and I hate winter but strangely I like several of those sensations like frozen hair and eyelashes.
