My doctor gave me a referal to somebody who she figured could give me more info about my options with the gallbladder.

I'm 95% decided that it's time to just get it taken out. It's not even that the pain is all that bad, but it does prevent me from sleeping most nights and that's making me nuts.

Wow that's quite the schedule. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow when you're at the dermatologist..I've had a few moles I've had to keep an eye on over the years--it's scary stuff!

Yeah, mammograms aren't so bad. It always hurts on my right breast because of the scar tissue from my mastitis surgery, but the left side is no big. Even needle biopsies aren't terrible. Boobs aside, I feel relieved that you're talking to the surgeon. I know it isn't what you wanted, but I've been pretty concerned. <3

You know, as we get older, the trips to the doctors are just going to seem more and more normal, hey? *blink* Good luck with all. As you know, I am here to tell you that surgery is not all that bad. And the pain meds afterwards, HOO-EEE, FUN! *heh* I do recommend the Oxy's, as they are the only thing I've ever had that didn't make me barfy.

How long were you off work afterwards? They make it sound like the recovery time is pretty short.

Well, I guess it depends what kind of surgery you're having. I have had open surgery, which was a bitch to recover from, as in, 6 months; but I've also had laproscopic, from which I recovered fully in less than 30 days. (FULLY.)

    What kind are ya' gettin'?

Well I haven't talked to the surgeon yet, but there's not reason to believe I wouldn't have laproscopy.

OH! Then, easy. All you need to remember is that when they tell you to calm the fuck down for the first 4-7 days and take your pain meds, they are not kidding. If you can stay high on percs and watch tv for a week, you will be back to normal sooooooo very much sooner than if you, well, act like siobhan and say, "fuck this, I'm going out to do some shit". :)

Really, I've done both, and I really, really recommend just sitting on your ass for a week. You'll be basically back to normal after that, if you do. I don't watch tv, normally, but what I did was borrowed two entire series of shows (The Office & Extras with Ricky Gervais) and literally sat around and watched tv for the longest time. It was pretty special; percs make humour even MORE funny!

The problem with rushing back to "normality" is that you actually basically *feel* better after about 2-3 days out. You really think that you CAN do the groceries and the laundry and go out to lunch with friends. BUT, I'm here to tell you that FEELINGS are unreliable. So about two days after THAT, you start to FEEL like a giant sack of shit. AND, if you're really lucky, you get an infection, which puts you out of the game for possibly months.

So please, momma says that after the surgery you just sit down and cool yer goddamn jets.

Lol. My jets run considerable cooler now than they did Back In The Day, but your point is still well-taken.
