I get a lot of spam and phishing email. Like, a lot. I've had the same domain for over 10 years, I post to Usenet and LJ and blogs all over the internet, I've been on a ton of mailing lists over the years. I always find it fascinating when I start getting emails to user names that could only have been scooped from personal emails. Kind of makes you go hrmmm, you know?

A lot of them are also addressed to email addresses that I have never used. I imagine that throwing together a random combination of letters and numbers works often enough to make it worthwhile to just hit any email address possible at a given domain. Since it's my domain I get to see them all.

And the one that really makes me scratch my head? Are the emails addressed to brocolli-sacrifice. It is the most common spam email address I get, and I've been getting them for years.

No. Idea.

I get so much spam that I've started going into my spam folder once or twice a day and deleting it (skimming the sender and subject lines for the 2% that shouldn't have been dumped there). Otherwise my inbox overflows before my server deletes the spam by whatever criteria it uses.

My brain isn't working well this morning - where does "Dave's not here, man" come from? I know I know.... Firesign Theater, maybe?
