I did it.

I Haf Signed Ze Papers.

I am now due to go into the hospital at some yet undisclosed date and get a portion of my insides taken out.

wibble

Have I mentioned that I Fucking Hate Surgery?

And the doctor told me I'm likely to be off work for Two. Fucking. Months. How the fuck am I going to survive that?

OK, OK, think on the bright side. No more curled up on the floor screaming my throat raw. That's worth a few months of ohmygodI'mgoingtobehomeless stress.

And with luck maybe I can convince the surgeon to install a zipper in my tummy so I can carry stuff in the empty space.

Two months sounds about right. One of my former co-workers had it done, and she was off for two months.

Do you have short-term disability protection through work? If so, it should cover you for up to 6 months. If not, talk to your boss and your union rep and see if you can work something out. If they like you and value your work, they could make provisions so that you get some kind of income while you're off, especially if you stress the fact that you must have this surgery and it cannot be postponed.

And remember that you have friends. No chance of you being homeless with us around. :)

Nope. I'm casual. No benefits or coverage at all. None.

I'm going to scope out EI and see if they'll cover me for at least part of the time. And hopefully I can go back earlier than that to the call centre, since there all I'll be doing is sitting on my ass and talking on the phone.

And remember that you have friends. No chance of you being homeless with us around. :)

You may live to regret saying that. ;->

Thank the gods, finaly a doctor doing something. Some times surgery is the only solution, honestly I may get the ol' chop chop to my brian if things keep up at this rate, go to another doctor and see what they can do. Here's hoping it'll make things better for you but good. And if you need ANYTHING don't hesitate to ask I'll crawl through broken glass to make sure this goes as smoothly as it can for you.

/hugs/ and hey the pain will be going away soon so that's ALWAYS good. :)

and about goddamned time, too. i worry about you.

[livejournal.com profile] treeblyleaf went through this recently, also. you may want to look back on her journal posts and see if she's open to talking about the recovery period and such.

let us know the date, ya?

'Bout fucking time.

I can teach you to knit. :) Then you can join the punk_knitters LJ community.
Or you can sign up for digital cable and go braindead in front of the horror movie channel.

And you will not be homeless. We'll all take turns if need be, but you'll not end up on the street.

Worry and 2 months of recovery now for lots more pain free years to come? Sounds like a good deal to me. :)
*hugs* Hang in there, we're all here to support you. Maybe you can do a fund raising drive to take your mind off the impending date? ;)

Do NOT overdo it. This is major surgery and you will need to give your body time to rest and recover. This is not a time to be pushing yourself.

You may live to regret saying that. ;->

Not a chance in hell.

Are you kidding?

I did one of those on-line longevity tests the other day.

It said I'm going to be dead at 32.

(Much hilarity ensued.)

I know 2 months is a long time to be off work, but you will be ever so much better (happier and painfree) afterwards.

Keep me posted! (yes, I just found you and your July post... ;-} )
