I know there are a few people on my f-list who deal with arthritis.

If you don't mind going into the gory details, could you give me some idea of what I'm in for?

I don't know, bit I gather it isn't what it used to be.
Fish oil and shark bits and stuff?

Me mam had metal pins installed in her hands. I know that much.

Also: I guess this sucks, but I gather it is more managable than before.

depends on what kind. osteo or rheumatoid are your two first choices.

if you do not know, and your pain is symmetrical on both sides, and the joint in question is hot and swollen, sounds like rheumatoid to my ears and the thing to do is get yourself to a rheumatologist asap if not sooner. (it's not going to kill you next week, but the sooner you're treated, the more damage you prevent.)

if it is not as described above, i'd say glucosamine and chondroitin which are expensive but also apparently effective on osteo. also pain management. also, keep going to the gym but only do things that make you sore, not that make you hurt.

okay, those last two are good for both/all kinds of arthritis.

i got more advice if you want it. i'm just sayin'.
