Zombie Space Unicorn: Chapter Three
Nov. 4th, 2012 12:58 amI have lost count of how much beer I've drunk.
Axel got too drunk and went home. I am hoping Darrell will be sober enough to carry both me and my laptop home at hte same time.
Typing is slow. Maybe I need to invest in some gin.Everyting goes faster with gin.
The ship had obviously taken off. We had no idea where we were - we could have been hovering two feet off the park or on the other side of space. We didn't see any of the alien. The room we were in appeared to be all that existed of the ship. The six passageways ended in blank walls. The only other opening was the circle in the floor. It was dark when we looked down, but given that we were near the base of the ship where we entered we figured it could only be a couple of feet deep at most.
We also didn't see the little girl anywhere. We shouted her name Maria a few times but then gave it up because there didn't seem to be any point.
We introduced ourselves around. There were about a dozen of us, all adults. Maria's mother had not made it in. I recongized most of their faces just from living in the neighbourhood.
"I really hope nobody has to go to the bathroom," said Franklin. We had poked and prodded at every available foot of the ship without finding any other rooms or signs of occupancy.
"We'll just designate one of the passageways," said Joe. He was an older man with a thick white beard that made him look like Santa Claus if Santa Claus had been sarcastic instead of jolly. "As long as we all know which one it is we can avoid it. I doubt the greys will notice. Or care."
I kept wandering around the room while the others talked. There had to be some kind of exit somewhere. I kept pushing on different sections of the wall, watching the indents of my fingers gently filling back in from below.
I heard a shout and turned around. One of the aliens was walking through the room. The humans all rushed towards him, arms outstretched to grab. He continued, not looking at us and peopel shouted in frustration. He walked past the hole in the floor and one of the men who was lunging towards him stumbled. His hands slipped across the grey robe and I saw him teeter for a second and then fall.
The alien disappeared and the room broke down in frustration. "How the fuck do they do that?" somebody asked.
I sat down next to the hole in the floor and reached my arm in, waving it around. I coulnd't feel anything, even when I laid flat on the floor and reached as far as I could. The others noticed what i was doing and came over to join me.
"That was... Dorian, right? That was his name?" I stretched my brain back to our recent introductions. People nodded nad then gathered around to call down into the hole. "Dorian! Can you hear me? Dorian? Are you ok?" There was no answer.
I sat back on my heels, frustrated. "What the fuck is going on in this place?" I said. "It's like one of those horror movies where people just keep disappearing one at a time. This is crazy."
The room tilted suddenly and I fell over backwards. I saw Joe slide sideways on his belly towards the hole and he screamed in pure terror. The people near him grabbed his arms and flattened themselves against the floor. The room tilted abruptly the other way and then just as suddenly leveled out.
"Is anybody there? Can you hear me?" asked a voice. It whispered and fluttered and seemed to come from all around us.
"We can hear you," said Franklin. She propped herself carefully on one elbow from where she had fallen. "Who are you? What do you want?"
"It's Dorian," said the voice. "And I want to help."
