weekend in the Hamptons
Apr. 26th, 2019 03:52 pmA friend has arranged to move in at the start of May, so this weekend will be dedicated to moving furniture, scrubbing everything thoroughly and fixing all the dings in the paint. Fortunately he likes cats, because they have gotten pretty used to being able to treat the space like it belongs to them. (I'll probably still lock them out in the time between the cleaning and him actually moving in - one of our cats is pretty pukey.)
Next weekend I will try and fix the porch if the weather cooperates. Breaking the banister basically ripped the entire corner off the bottom step, so I'll need to put together a form and pour some new concrete to build that back up. Plus Axel had to saw through one of the posts at the top, so I'm going to put a short form in that spot as well to build up some raised concrete to re-anchor the shortened post. I figure I can use an old margarine tub or something, it doesn't have to be pretty. Really the whole thing needs to be ripped down and replaced but that's going to take some saving up of funds. So maybe next year. Unless the leaking in the kitchen gets bad enough that we have to leapfrog that problem.
I swear this house is falling apart faster than we can fix things.
And this summer we are finally biting the bullet and installing air conditioning because if this summer is anything like last year's I will flat out die from lack of oxygen and sleep deprivation if we don't.

I can't say what your next summer will be like, but its 34C here at the end of April, which is abnormal.
