JESUS GREAT HEINOUS CHRIST ON A MOTHERFUCKING POGO STICK IS IT EVER FOOKING COLD OUTSIDE!

This is what I get for being so unsympathetic when other people complain about the weather. "Welcome to Canada" I would say, "Or gee, cold weather in winter, who would have imagined it."

I get minus 30 degrees celcius, that's what I get. With the windchill, that's like about a billion degrees below zero. Enough so that it won't seem to stay outside the house and the power company is worried about outages tonight when all the lights flick on. I'm bundled up in a sweater and drinking herbal teas just for the fact that it's hot, and I'm actually considering washing the dishes just to warm up my hands.

Feh.

On the plus side, hauling boxes is planned for later, and that tends to be a very warming activity. And I actually managed to polish off a whole to-do list this afternoon. Done. Gone. >poof<!

Off to start on the next one. I might get to see the surface of my desk this week if I keep up this rate of productivity.

Now y'all know why I *don't* whinge about the UK weather. (I do whinge about the lack of light, but that's a whole other ball game).

I grew up in the part of Canada where it's -30 to -40 for months on end and if we get really lucky it'll go up to -20 for a few days. For the most part, I found winter in Toronto to be comparatively pleasant.

Add 10 years in the UK, and I don't cope with it quite so well. I think the only thing that stopped me from packing my bags and moving back to TO a couple months ago was people discussing the comparative methods of shovelling snow. That's not something I'm ready to cope with again.

Oh! I've just figured out who you are!

You grew up in Montreal then? Or Winnipeg? [livejournal.com profile] caspervonb used to mock us for being pussies when he first moved here, but this has been the coldest winter in years and even he is starting to bitch about the temperature.

[livejournal.com profile] the_axel, otoh, likes the weather here. He hates the drizzle that you get in the UK, and when the temperature finally goes back up to 0 it feels positively balmy by comparison.

Worse. Regina. But we don't talk about that.

And I've got to admit, sometimes the weather here drives me a bit nuts, but in no way does it make me miss snow.
