June
1 – June is Audiobook Month: Do you use audiobooks? If yes, do you use them exclusively, or do you also read ebooks or physical books? If you don't use audiobooks, why not?
2 – Donut Day: Do you like donuts? Have you ever made your own? If/when you buy donuts, what it your go-to place -- is it a major chain (Dunkin' Donuts, Tim Hortons, Krispy Kreme, etc.), or do you have a favourite independent bakery?
3 – World Bicycle Day: Do you regularly ride a bike? If yes, is it mostly for fun, or do is it your main mode of tranportation? Does your town/city have good bike infrasctructure, e.g. dedicated, safe bike paths, etc.?
4 – Cheese Day: There are people who do not like cheese or cannot eat it for health reasons, while other people think it is one of the best foods, or ingredients for food recipes that was ever invented! Which category best describes you?
5 – Thank God it's Monday Day: everyone is probably familiar with TGIF - Thank god it's Friday. Did you know there's actually a TGIM Day? Thank God It’s Monday Day is all about seeing Monday as a positive day, rather than a negative day. What sort of positive things could you do to make sure your week gets off to a good start?
6 – Drive-In Movie Day: Drive-in movies have seen a bit of a renaissance recently -- largely thanks to the Covid pandemic. Have you ever been to a drive-in movie, or any other type of open air movie viewing event?
7 – Global Running Day: Are you, or have you ever been, a runner/jogger? If yes, do you/did you run mostly indoors (treadmill) or outdoors, or both, depending on the weather? What are the biggest differences between running outdoors vs indoors? If you're not a runner, what is your preferred form of exercise (if you have one)?
8 – Best Friends Day: Do you have a best friend(s)? Are they someone you've know since forever, or someone you met as an adult? Did you meet online first and if yes, have you since met in person?

1. I have like - two audiobook files and no I never listen to them. I should some day. 2. Not really my favourite desert. I don't have much of a sweet tooth. 3. I don't bike any more because of the vestibular issues and the bike infrastructure in my town is pretty haphazard. 4. I have never met a cheese I didn't like. 5. I see my gf on Mondays, so that's a positive thing. 6. I did drive-ins with my parents when I was a kid, and then later when I was a drunken 20 year-old trying to get into trouble. It's been a long time since either of those things were true. 7. I have run on occasion, but it's been a while. The air in the city is too bad to do it outside and I haven't had a gym membership at a place with a track for a while. 8. I have some very close friends, and I met them first online as adults.

9 – Movie Night: The second Friday in June is national movie night. If you are/were going to watch a movie tonight to celebrate national movie night, what movie would you watch? Would you watch it at home, or at the cinema?

When I  watch movies it's always on my Monday nights with the gf. I can't think if we have a specific one queued up for next week. I keep meaning to make a post about all the things we've watched together as part of the "get caught up on pop culture" films project.

Turning 60 was like flipping a damn switch on my joints, they are annoying. I take supplements that my doctor recommended (and try to stay away from the gout triggers) and up until know that's been enough to keep me reasonably pain free. Now I have twinges and crunches all the time.

Grrr. Not a fan.

Meanwhile my cat is also getting old - he's 12 now and starting to show his age. I think he might be showing the start of arthritis as well, just in how he doesn't seem to move as easily as he used to. So at his last vet visit he came home with a brochure for some monoclonal antibodies treatment that just requires a monthly injection. And I'm like... can I have a monthly injection that means my arthritis will go away? Because that sounds like a really good arrangement to me.

I had vague thoughts I might go to the non-binary meetup tonight but at the last minute I had such a bad case of the idonwannas that I just didn't.

So since I wasn't doing anything else I wandered over to the closest polling station and got my vote out of the way. And there was a street party going on - it's one that the local BIA puts on every year but I forgot about it because of course I haven't been paying attention. Lots of people wandering up and down the street, and kids with balloons and all the local stores and restaurants have booths set up. I had my mask on anyway because of the residual smoke so I wandered around for a bit.

I have no idea what's going on with the renos. I haven't seen the dude for a couple of weeks, but I texted back-and-forth with him yesterday about some of the work that needs to get done so I know he's still alive. I guess he's still waiting on materials? Who knows? Not me!

If you want to watch something utterly ridiculous that’s easy lighthearted fun, I recommend Kung Pow. It’s from a couple decades ago but has held up well (primarly because it was an absurdist comedy to begin with). A dude took a classic Kung Fu movie, rewrote all the dialogue for comedic effect, and edited himself into it. The result was Kung Pow.

I'm guessing it's Solanesa?
My vet friend raves about it as a lifechanger for cats.

I'll speculate any people version could be in clinical trials.

I think that's what my 16yo cat just switched to (from cartrophen), though here it's called Solensia. Much more expensive, but after only one shot, I think he's less shouty and more active, and he's not walking like an uncomfortable bulldog anymore. (Of course, there's bound to be a placebo element in my reading of his behaviour. /disclaim disclaim)

My vet said there were unacceptable problems with the human trials, but whatever they were, they didn't affect cats. Fwiw.
