November
6 – Job Action Day: It is often suggested that people should focus on finding a job that they love. Today it is suggested that you should take your passions and bring them to the job you have, i.e. find a way to instill your love and passion for a particular career into any work you come into. Do you think this is good advice?

11 – Origami Day: Have you ever done origami?
12 – International Tongue Twister Day: Are you good at tongue twisters? What's your favourite tongue twister? And to take a different meaning of tongue twister, can you literally twist or crinkle the edge your tongue?
13 – World Kindness Day: What was the last kind thing someone did for you? What was the last kind thing you did for someone else?

24 – Flossing Day: Do you floss regularly?
25 – Shopping Reminder Day: Shopping Reminder Day falls roughly a month before Christmas, and as such it’s the perfect reminder to go ahead and get started on all of your holiday shopping. How do you feel about holiday shopping? Do you need a reminder to go shopping for holiday gifts?

6 – This looks like one of those weird inspirational advice things that doesn't make any actual sense. I spend most of my day looking at spreadsheets. How am I supposed to bring my passions to looking at spreadsheets? 7 - I had a teddy bear as a kid, named Teddy of course. There is a kind of sad story about what happened to it that pretty much cured me of keeping stuffed animals. 8 - I'd say it's middling. Especially right now given the whole no kitchen thing. 9 – I have no idea how British pudding is different from any other kind of pudding? 10 – I have! Some day I might even do it again. 11 - Nope. 12 – Weirdly I was in a group game with my co-workers a couple of weeks ago where I was given a tongue-twister challenge and I aced it. Some sounds are easier than others, obviously. 13 – I genuinely cannot remember the details but somebody in some kind of office went out their way to help me. That's all I can remember, honestly my brain is mush. 14 – Fuck. Yes. 15 – Religiously. 16 – I have a re-purposed biscuit tin for all sewing supplies, as the Gods intended and yes there are buttons in it. 17 – That walk to the lake last month. I haven't been on one of the urban hikes for a while because lately they've all been during the day when I'm at work. 18 – Disney Princesses are fine. Real life princesses need to get a real job. 19 – Lots. Been a while though. 20 – Sineater. 21 – Yes? Weird question. Right now I watch the shows I'm podcasting on and the gf & I watch a TV episode or movie whenever I'm at her place, which is usually once a week. 22 – I have my motorcycle licence but it's been years. I ride my bike daily on a stationary mount. 23 – I love really good coffee, but I'm currently only buying the cheap shit which is primarily only good for the caffeine. 24 – Always. I have shit teeth. 25 – I'm pretty sure nobody in North America needs yet another "reminder" that Xmas is coming.

27 – Pins and Needles Day: Can you sew, either by hand or by machine? What was the last thing you sewed?

I have a small portable sewing machine that I hardly ever use. I occasionally will hand sew things like patches or buttons.

Honestly sewing is one of those things I would love to get good at but just never had the space for. Once it's only me living here and I can set things up a little better I might create a space for doing sewing and other repair/craft work.

I had to go to the bakery today to pick up some bread and since I had mentioned custard tarts the other day I bought myself one.

I have been absolutely ravenous the last couple of weeks - I cannot seem to stop eating and I am especially craving carbs. It finally occurred to me today that this might be a direct result of the cold. My body has decided 'well, if this is how we live now, better build up an insulation layer.'

The cats were upstairs with me today while I worked and they yelled at me until I finally gave up and plugged in an electric heater. I don't usually use the heater - that whole trying to save money thing - but today it was bothering me more than usual.

The cold also means I haven't been doing yoga because I'm so stiff and tight. I'm starting to feel the impact of that in my back.

Adventures of having an elderly cat continue. The current project is to try and put some weight on him. He loves human food, but the problem is that he also has a fragile stomach so he often doesn't tolerate any food that's a change.

I cooked some chicken the other day and I've been experimenting with giving him a little bit at a time. The main result I can report is that he now runs up and shrieks at me whenever I use the microwave. So far I've discovered that one teaspoon is about the maximum he can eat without chucking it all over the floor, so win? I guess?

**

Work is absolutely kicking my ass, which is the main reason I have been so low energy for everything lately. I have not done any writing or drawing or anything creative in a lot of weeks. I am trying to do some journaling, but even that's hard.

This too shall pass.

I have been absolutely ravenous the last couple of weeks - I cannot seem to stop eating and I am especially craving carbs.

I had a medication that was doing that to me. If you've had a recent change, maybe check and see if that's a potential cause. (Though it was not in the listed side effects for the one I was on - but it was the only changed med, so it was easy to pick out.)

Kidney issues? That'll cause a lot of puking. Same with hyperthyroid if it's not treated. Cooked chicken/turkey seems to be a hit, and wet food with drippings/gelatin from a freshly baked bird also seems to go over well. (I use a canning jar and pop the leftovers drippings in the fridge and just scoop with a spoon later.)

I figure I'll make some bone broth and see if I can add that to his regular meals as well because there is bound to be some useful calories in that.

Absolutely! If you make a huge batch you can freeze what's not being used in a week or so (freeze week-size batches? So you don't have to hack off a lump later.)

There is commercial made, too - but definitely cheaper to make your own. Just remember NOT to put anything in the onion family in any broth you're making for the kitty.

My own metabolic issues I am assuming are just from living in a deep freezer

Ohhhhh yea, that'll do it too. If you've got a local restaurant supply place, they might have a large pack of pre-cooked bacon. For me that's body heat fuel right there, meat and fat in a tasty package, and I don't have to cook it first. :)
