In the latest house update, HAVE A FURNACE!!

Lords, ladies, and gentlethems, I repeat: I HAVE A FUCKING FURNACE. Ye verily, I am living in the very lap of luxury. I am in my pyjamas right now. I am not even wearing gloves. What a country.

Kitchen progress: Cabinets have been assembled. Range arrives tomorrow. Counter-tops take two weeks so some time after Xmas. Very very soon and after two years of no kitchen I am finally going to be able to prepare a meal that isn't out of a microwave. No lie, I am so tired of eating the same four things over and over again.

I am so happy I may just sleep in that friggin' room for the first week.

The hard part is going to be fending off the housemate's desire to start using it right away. They want to shift the fridge out of the living room and start moving things into the shelves and I keep saying no, no, everything is still covered in sawdust, cool your jets and give those men space to work.

Basement progress: Ha ha ha ha ha.

So I found out why the work there has been so sporadic. The guy who was supposed to be kind of a site supervisor while the builder has been off work (recovering from major surgery) has been pulling a lot of no shows and claiming he had done things that he obviously hadn't. So last week I got a text from the builder saying "B doesn't work for me any more. I'll be back there next week."

Then this morning I got a phone call with more details. B has been told to fuck off and go sort out his "personal issues" - said issues making him unreliable and sketchy and apparently causing him to run up a lot of debt. So B is now threatening to show up at client sites and do... something, I dunno. Anyway if he shows up, don't let him in.

OK then.

If this project continues to get delayed long enough that we hit March before it's finished, that will officially be the 4th anniversary of starting this project. I might bake him an anniversary cake.

'Cause I'll have a kitchen.

To be honest I think the builder was mostly worried about the tools he has in our basement. I hid the key they were using.

A furnace! Just in time for summer/midwinter!

Oh it is definitely winter here. And supposed to snow heavily tonight.

We have the most amazing whether over east: torrential rain! Floods! Fires! Fires with their own weather systems!

And the Xmas weather forecast is now going to be 40C here. Ugh.

Yikes with the contractor who was meant to work on your house. I hope he doesn't show up, that'd be a total WTF.

We did have a key hidden outside so they could let themselves in, I've brought it in and I'll drop it into the builder's hand tomorrow. I think the only real worry is that he would steal the tools that are currently stored in the basement.
