Today is the day on Sprockets where we procrastinate.

------------------------

"Goth" as a genre is fixated with death and decay.

Krispy Kreme donuts never go stale.

Ergo, Krispy Kreme donuts are inherantly some kind of goth kryptonite.

Discuss.

------------------------

My house is utterly freezing. Comes from living in Canada in November and having no walls. All the windows are sealed with plastic, we have a space heater in the bedroom and another one in the office. We're definitely going to scope out some blankets to hang on the office walls, it's only barely below zero outside and it's only going to get worse.

New furnace is supposed to be in in the next couple of weeks, the work permit for shoring up the ceilings is supposedly another couple of weeks after that, then it's a couple more weeks before the contractors can do the actual work of shoring up the ceilings, then new windows and doors go in and then we can finally start putting the bloody walls up.

It might have been easier just to bulldoze the whole place and just start from scratch.

And I have to call the roofer back. Which I haven't done yet, because as I said, I'm procrastinating.

------------------------

Cold is gone, finally. Still forced to inhale annoying quantities of medicinal powder that tastes that burnt rubber in order to be able to breathe, however. I have a date with [livejournal.com profile] caspervonb to go to the gym on Monday, which will either make me feel better or kill me outright.

------------------------

Still, I must be feeling somewhat better, because I actually left the house last night of my own volition. Sitting in the bathroom at Sneak's, somebody had left graffiti in the stall that said, "All women who bleed are goddesses, miracle of birth and death".

I pulled out my trusty sharpie and wrote "fuckin' hippie".

I expect to see lots of indignant gynophilic propaganda next time I'm in Sneaks and have to pee.

------------------------

Bloody hell, I'm cold... I need to go make myself something warm. I think I will make a big cup of tea -- and then probably stick my feet into it.

So does your definition of "without walls" mean that you don't have insulation and drywall, but have the outer shell in place?

Yep. We pulled all the drywall down so we could put in new wiring and insulation. (Which was how we discovered that we needed to add structural reinforcements.)

Doors and windows in January?! I'm gobsmacked. You do have people who will check in on ya'll to make sure you aren't frozen solid?

We technically have those as well, except that all of the windows are broken and none of the doors actually fit. So they are all currently incased in layers of plastic.

So it's not as bad as I probably make it sound. We have plastic seperating all the rooms, which cuts down a lot on the cold drafts from the crappy doors. And I just bought a new space heaters which is doing a great job of heating up the office, which is where we are most of the time. And we wear piles of sweaters and big fuzzy socks. :-p

And the nice man who came to measure today told me that the windows will probably be done early. (Although we'll still have to wait on the doors.) Whoo hoo!
